Because we are on tour everyone is now referred to by their travel names - introducing Rocket, Mad Dog (Madi), The Oogster (Amy), G'Ma (Sandra) and yours truly Lala. Reid and Cyndel will be allocated theirs in the next installment.
Our trip started well, Rocket got to test out the fully body scanner and Mad Dog had her first ever bomb check - and promptly decided it was retarded (her words) not to check everyone for bombs "as if" she would have one.
We met Team Richardson after customs clearance and at this stage I'm pretty sure they were happy to NOT to be traveling with their brood when ours hit the wall!
Rocket followed triathlon Australia's advice about staying awake for the first leg (Singapore) but was heard to say on arrival into London "if that guy was here right now I would punch him!".
Lots of napping on the way - The Oogster is consistent and has now added using all the vomit bags on Emirates airlines to her impressive résumé. Note to self - travel calm medication does not work!
Mad dog was the champion sleeper (and snorer) and G'ma made a pretty good pillow apparently. We are tempted to amend Mad Dogs name to Half moon after a few too many truckie smile incidents along the way ;)
Notes to other travelers: 5 hours at Dubai airport is tooooooo long, Maccas tastes like crap in ALL other countries and is possibly not worth the free Wifi. 13 year olds that are overtired are AWESOME bag watchers at train stations and its helpful when they are tall and have a death glare to stop a would be bag thief ( nice work Mad Dog!). Cranky triathletes also need to swipe their travelcard on the correct side of the the gate otherwise your very expensive time trial bike WILL get stuck in the doors and set off the alarm!!!!!
Yeah baby Team Tanner are in town!
Apartment is great, the WC is actually a cupboard and Rocket doesn't fit under the shower but we are rested and life is good.

Cool!!! As I see you loved the 27 hours trip, so you should try one day do our 40!!! hehehehehe
ReplyDeleteGlad to know you're all okay (including the bike)! :-)
